Responsible research and innovation (RRI) is a rapidly emerging framework for the development of research projects that focuses on the potential effects – both positive and negative – of new innovations on society and the environment. With a focus on gender equity, ethical integrity and community empowerment, it aims to make research more sustainable, responsive and effective.
This course gives you a practical set of skills and concepts that will allow you put the principles of responsible research into practice in your own research projects. By analysing case studies and working closely with experts in the field, you’ll develop strategies to ensure your research is future-focused, ethically sound and ready to change the world for the better.
By completing activities and assessments, the earner of this credential has shown a thorough understanding of the principles and practice of responsible research and innovation and an ability to put them into use. They have explored and analysed the role of responsible research and innovation in a variety of contexts and used that knowledge to create a responsible research framework for a project of their own devising. This credential was developed in collaboration with the EU-funded project GoNano and is endorsed by the Italian Association for Industrial Research and the Danish Board of Technology.
